First of all, the charcoal we use for incense is still the best tool to experience its aroma today. The magic that develops through its aromatic smoke (essential also for fumigations) cannot be recreated in any other way. Pyrolysis, i.e. the dissolution of incense through heat, is not just a mechanical process, but an art that is learned through experience and with the guidance of competent people. Charcoal is composed of charcoal powder and substances that facilitate its ignition through the approach to a live flame. Here are our tips for correct use:
Take the charcoal with tongs and bring it close to a flame, as soon as it begins to spark, place the charcoal on an appropriate incense holder.
1. The charcoal must be completely incandescent before incense can be placed on it: to speed up this process, you can fan the charcoal with a fan or expose it to the air flow near a window. Adjustable flame warmers are also good, as well as placing it on the home stove grating: the important thing is to wait for its complete ignition, verifiable by the presence of a layer of white ash externally, without any dark color marks, where it could remain unburned.
2. The duration of the charcoal depends on its size, but may decrease in the presence of greater ventilation and low temperatures. Pay attention to the amount of incense that you burn, incorrect use may cause the charcoal to go out.
3. Each incense behaves differently on charcoal, we recommend following our specific indications indicated on the packaging and website.
4. The charcoal immediately reaches a temperature of 400 degrees, as the ember shrinks, the temperature tends to decrease. We are the first and only ones to recommend a method to follow this process and savor incense appropriately.
5. THE GENERAL RULE OF ANBESA IS TO USE ONLY INCENSE THAT MELTS, IN SMALL QUANTITIES, DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE CHARCOAL’S DURATION, WHILE IN THE SECOND PART OF ITS DURATION SUBSTANCES THAT CARBONIZE CAN BE PUT. BY FOLLOWING THIS RULE AND OUR ADVICE, YOU WILL LEARN TO PUT THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF THE MOST APPROPRIATE INCENSE AS SECONDING THE TEMPERATURE OF YOUR CHARCOAL.
